Luxury Basement Remodel in Gibsonia

As it stood, this previously finished basement did not work for my client’s young family. The spaces were disconnected and did does not reflect their style.

When my clients came to me about their basement, they weren't looking for a rec room with a mini fridge tucked in the corner. They wanted a full second living space that could handle everything from movie nights to hosting overnight guests, and that meant designing three distinct areas that still felt like they belonged to the same home.

The Kitchen & Bar

The kitchen became the anchor of the space. We paired black custom cabinetry with white oak for warmth and contrast, then topped it with Cambria Remington Brass quartz. Top Knobs hardware in honey bronze and a Brizo faucet in luxe gold picked up that same brass tone, and a hexagon mosaic backsplash gave the whole wall some texture without competing with the countertop.

The Bathroom

For the bathroom, my client wanted something that felt contemporary and modern. We shifted the palette slightly. White oak cabinetry stayed consistent with the kitchen, but we brought in Dekton Trillium for the countertop and layered matte black fixtures alongside the honey bronze accents to tie the two rooms together. The shower is finished in a mix of 12x24 and 18x48 porcelain tile in a wood plank look, which gives it the feel of natural wood without any of the upkeep a basement environment would demand.

The Media Space

The TV area includes built-In speakers for surround sound, custom white oak storage cabinets and bookcases with matte black hardware, echoing the finishes used throughout the kitchen and bath. I also incorporated Residential Control System by Lutron Caseta and integrated LED Cabinet Lighting throughout the space.

Projects like this one are exactly why I love what I do. It takes detailed coordination to make a kitchen, a bathroom, and a media space all speak the same design language.

The Gym

My client’s new home gym includes floor-to-ceiling mirrors, abundant ambient lighting, and a slat-paneled feature wall to bring in natural texture. Smart use of floor space allows room for multiple, large pieces of workout equipement and weight storage.
